is the light supposed to be red on my carbon monoxide detector??
i have a first alert plug-in carbon monoxide detector that was given to me by my roomates mom but she didn’t give us the users manual. there is only one light on it, and it’s been red ever since she gave it to us which was like 2 or 3 months ago. the alarm itself has never went off, and we’ve tested it a couple times. but a friend of ours came over today and told us that the red light is a warning light and it’s a bad sign. should i be worried or is it supposed to be that way??
If the unit has only one LED, it’s probably just lit to tell you it’s plugged in. But go to their web site, find your alarm, and download the manual to be sure:
